Join us in South Shields at The Word, National Centre for the Written Word on Saturday 18 November for a fantastic free day of inspiration, challenges, fun, and wonder!
This year’s authors and illustrators include Ian Whybrow, Nick Sharratt, Piers Torday, The 2 Steves, Vivian French, Paul Cookson, Jonny Duddle, Steve Webb & Chris Mould, and Liz Million & Adam Bushnell.
There will creative writing workshops, artist workshops where you can make a memento of the day to take home, performance lead story telling or you can join in with drop in craft sessions with the local library services and explore the wonderful building.
Blackwell’s will be running a pop-up book shop, and all the authors and illustrators will be available to sign copies of their books after their sessions.
We’ll be announcing the full programme at the end of September here on the website and on our Facebook page.
Tickets are free for author and illustrator sessions but must be booked in advance. There will be a nominal charge for some artist workshops. Tickets will be available for booking at the end of October.
**Would you benefit from having a signer in your session?**
We have always had a signer at Gala Day for hearing impaired members of the audience. In previous years, we’ve chosen the sessions in which the signer took part. This year we want to find out from you if you would benefit from having a signer in the sessions you’re attending. We can’t guarantee we can provide a signer at every session for which one is requested, but if you let us know which author you’re coming to see, we’ll let us know if it’s possible. For further details, please email email@example.com or contact us through our Facebook page, Northern Children’s Book Festival.
